This is not what you are expecting

It’s important to say that up front, because you came to this page probably expecting to see a list of hourly rates, package deals, etc. And, in fact, that is what used to be here. (I have left all those things down below so you can see the kinds of things people pay me for, but I have removed the prices.)

So why aren’t there any prices?

Because I don’t work for hourly rates, and you shouldn’t either. My friend Chris Haddad wrote a great article on this exact topic, and it is a refreshing and empowering read.

The value of my services is determined by you and your needs, not on the hours it takes me to finish the project.

Also, I work with all kinds of businesses. So does it make sense for me to charge the solo home-based entrepreneur and the multinational corporation the same amount?

Of course not. The value proposition is different by several orders of magnitude. I charge what I am worth, and that worth is defined by the client’s needs. (Chris Brogan makes an excellent point about this when he defends his $22k per day fee.)

I work for myself because I like working on interesting projects. Some of these interesting projects are $500 from a home-based businessperson who is just getting off the ground, and others are for tens of thousands of dollars for large corporations.

Each of them are thrilled with the value they receive, and are happy to pay the price because the value they are getting is many times what it cost.

So what I want to do is meet you for free, find out what you are looking for, and if I can provide the kind of value you want. If so, we then come to a number that you will feel is a deal, and I will be happy doing the project for.

It’s a win/win, and those are too few and far between nowadays.

The Whole Enchilada

This package is essentially a month’s worth of my attention to your marketing and communications efforts, complete with measurable results. We start with my super ultra top secret patent pending Interview, which I have developed and refined over the last 10 years. With the information gathered during that process, I write your story, develop your message, and establish an initial beachhead for that message within your customers’ community. You and I will work as a team throughout the month to ensure your existing customers are on board with the message, ensure the message is being seen by your potential customers, and define a clear path forward for you to continue with your marketing efforts.

During this process I will provide you with documentation, training, and a deep understanding of the tools you use to reach and measure your audience. The Whole Enchilada is deeply personalized and customized to fit you and your specific business.

The fact is you need to update your site and keep providing it with fresh content. But what if you aren’t a great writer? What if your business is booming right now and you don’t have the time? What if you want to go on vacation for a few weeks?

That’s where I come in as your Ghost Writer. You and I will sit down and have a heart-to-heart about what you want to see on your site. We will review your existing content, and map out a timeline and outline for new content.

Then I will write 5 articles a month for you, according to the parameters you have stated, with the voice you want. As a professional writer I can exactly mimic your style/tone, or I can modify it in any way you desire. For those who are interested in improving their writing, sometimes all you need is a guiding hand to help you massage your concepts and words into compelling stories.

My experience as an Editor and my frequent work with aspiring writers can be brought to bear on your writing, too.

As your Editor/Copy Editor/Writer, I will go through your existing content (articles, blog posts, flyers, web site content, etc), and massage it into something great. A key part of this process is me teaching you to fish. So I won’t just take the red pen and mark up your writing, I will also explain how it needs to change, and why. My interest is in making sure you see a huge improvement in your words, and you understand where the improvement came from so you can do it again.

Voice Talent

For decades people have told me that I should use my voice for radio, advertising, character acting, narration, etc. So I finally did something about it and got trained on the art and the industry. I can now provide a wide variety of voice acting to fit your needs. I also have the equipment to record at home, if needed.

I have developed a series of classes to help businesspeople find their voice and express themselves.
